We know what it’s not so convenient to look video on the small screen of a mobile phone because of many different interesting things which is constantly taking place around. And we can’t help digressing from the action of the film to look around.
Kowon Technology a South-Korean company has offered a unique way to settle this problem at an exhibition Expo Comm Korea 2006.
This company has developed a liquid crystal display-glasses (model MSP-209) for mobile phones’ users which allow their owners to watch video, without any concern that someone else can see it. Thus it will be possible to forget about all things happening around , for example, during the trip by bus, by plunging in a real world of your own cinema. The display has resolution (QVGA, 320х240 dots) and during the film you can have feeling, that it’s 32-inch TVs in front of you.
MSP-209 can be connected with mobile phone, hand held PC, portable mediaplayer, game console and other similar devices. Unfortunately it’s not well known yet through what kind of interfaces the glasses will be attached to a mobile phone and the other devices. But it was indicated, that MSP-209 is a universal model and will approach to all portable devices.
The weight of this device is only 58 gram. It’s accumulator can operate 8 hours of ceaseless viewing. Capacity of the headphones is 380 mWatt.
In South Korea the novelty will be in stock already next week. In Japan, Europe and China it will appear a little bit later. According to the developers words MSP-209’s prise will be about 200 dollars.
Kowon Technology specialists expect also to release the advanced version of the glasses with the displays which resolution will be 640 х 480 dots.
Some other companies has already developed glasses with an inserted screen. For example, Cngtek company released a multimedia device - Mobile Personal Entertainment Center (MPEC) Cinema about an year, where display is glasses with LQ-screen and stereophonic headphones.
Thus according to the manufacturer’s words, the size of a picture on the screen is equal to the size of the image on the 30-inch Tvset from a distance of two meters.
it is also capable to playback video clips in AVI, MPEG-4 formats, and reproduce musical compositions in MP3, WMA, WAV formats and JPEG-photos.
In April at an exhibition CTIA in Las Vegas Icuiti Company has represented it’s variant of the similar device. The Model CP920 has some interesting features. It is completely compatible with the format of mobile TV which is rapidly developing in Europe, America, Japan, Russia and some other countries. And It is also equipped with a screen with resolution 640х480 dots.
The novelty will cost about 300 dollars.
